That said given a set of possible paths, the problem still is: Which of these should we choose?

Here are some LEAN Sprint techniques I have found help:

  1. Encourage the team to independently formulate multiple solutions
  2. Place a constraint on how many ideas the team can test at any given time
  3. Use a meritocratic voting method to prioritize what gets tested
  4. Enforce a time-box on testing each idea through a small, fast, experiment.
  5. Reconvene to discuss results: Double-down on best ideas, and kill off bad ones.

Then rinse and repeat.
